Eco Art Workshops

Edale Country Day

On June 14th I ran an art workshop for Edale country day. I designed a map of the village which I sketched on 36 blank canvases. participants chose a canvas and painted a small section of the design in their own style. When the painted canvases were put together at the end, they made a beautiful collage inspired by 36 different experiences of the Peak District National Park.  Hope Carnival

For Hope Carnival on July 5th, I offered a workshop for visitors. The workshop was butterfly themed to promote the Moors for the Future Community Science butterly survey activities. Visitors were asked to sketch and cut out their own butterflies from black card. They then stuck tracing paper to the outline and coloured in the shape to create a translucent butterfly. When stuck together the butterflies make a beautiful stained glass window. (that is much more animal friendly than Damien Hirst's!)

Thanks to everyone that joined in, you can see your work online if you click the link  below.

Edale Primary School

I ran a series of bumble-bee themed workshops during July 2015 at Edale Primary School to raise awareness of the Moors For the Future Community Science Team's wildlife monitoring projects in the local area. The children learned about clay sculpture as well as trying their hands at painting and beading. All their hard work was finished with a trip to the local cafe for party games and cake!

A big thank you to all the Edale children. Click the link below to find out more about the workshops.

Holly Green Art & Craft Club

We began with a talk on Conservation projects at the Moorland Visitor Centre, followed by a brisk walk in the lovely afternoon sun. We then stopped at Cooper's Cafe for afternoon tea and cake, where I walso held an art workshop. They made some lovely art work in different media for the exhibition. Edale Cubs

In July I ran a couple of flower press workshops with the Edale cubs group. The children gathered local wild flower species on a nature walk in the village then learnt how to press the flowers to dry them out. A few weeks later we used the pressed flowers to create beautiful collage images. Click the link below to find out more and see the fantastic art work they created.

Sheffield Young Carers.

On 2st July Sheffield Young Carers came out to Edale for a workshop. We started at the Moorland Centre where we found out about local wildlife monitoring projects, before heading out for a walk up to the nab. After taking in the views and spotting some of the target wildlife species, we headed down to Cooper's Cafe for lunch and cake. We then all had a go at painting in arcylics and made some beautiful pictures to go in the exhibition. Click the link below to see the artwork online.

Crisis 1.

On 3rd August a group from the housing charity, Crisis, came from Sheffield to visit the Peak National Park. They were given a presentation by staff at the Moorland Visitor Centre before attempting the tough walk up to the nab. But at the top we saw some fantastic views and enjoyed standing in the billowing winds. When we returned to the village, lunch and a selection of cakes was waiting for them at Cooper's Cafe. We then made some brilliant art work inspired by the moorland experience. Thanks for participating, click the link below to see more.
