Moors for the Future

Moors for the Future are based at the Moorland Centre in Edale. They manage conservation projects across the Peak District National Park to help protect the environment. Since 2003, Moors for the Future have been working to reverse more than 200 years of damage that left large areas of the Peak District uplands bare of vegetation.

Community Science Project

The Community Science team encourage volunteers to help record valuable information about population numbers and locations of upland species such as curlew, green hairstreak butterfly and the bilberry bumblebee. Scientific data collected by volunteers is fed into a national database to help find out how climate change may be affecting the long-term prospects of the globally important moorland landscape.

Participants of the Moorland Wonderscape Eco-Arts Project will be asked to participate in the monitoring project. There are several surveys that are suitable for all ages and levels of experience: These range from casual recording postcards, to more involved, bumblebee monitoring surveys. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, improve wildlife identification abilities and meet others who are passionate about wildlife conservation.
