Edale Cubs.

In July I organised a couple of "Flower press" workshops with the Edale Cubs. On the first session we went on a wild flower hunt in the village. We picked lots of the beautiful flowers that are indigenous to the local area. We saw lot of other wildlife, including bumble-bees and we discussed their importance to the local environment. Then we took the flowers we had picked back to the village hall where we learnt to press them between sheets of paper in a book. The flowers then had to be left to dry out and a few weeks later I ran the second session with the cubs. We made collage images of a landscape from lots of coloured card and cut out the edges with crinkly scissors. Then we drew plants, animals or people in the landscape with felt-tips, before adding the most important element: the pressed flowers. The children made some beautiful pictures which have been framed brightly coloured frames ready for the exhibition. Thank you for all your hard work.
