Vegetable Series

Madeleina Kay's vegetable series emerges from her interest in eco art and the benefits of engagement with the natural environment. all of the subjects are home grown vegetables taken from a range of allotments, in contrast to super market produce, these images celebrate the beauty in the imperfect organic form. it is also important to madeleina to meet the allotment holders and discover their motivation behind "growing their own" and their sentimental attachment to their produce. the vegetable drawings are careful, pencil line studies that depict the subject in exquisite detail. The vegetable paintings are vibrant, expressionist representations of the organic forms.
